We need Air

There has been a crisis at our house for the past week. One air conditioner did not cool. I called the company I had purchased it from, and he told me to turn it off and he would send out a worker. The worker came, turned it back on cool and it began cooling again. After several hours it began blowing hot air again. Another call, and another command to turn it off. The workman came , turned it on cool and it began working again. In a few hours it was blowing hot air again. I tried to explain to him at the next visit that He wasn’t fixing it. He was just temporarily getting it to cool down temporarily. I tried to explain that just doing the same thing repeatedly was not working. There was a language barrier between us, and I could tell he was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. I was beginning to think the same about him. Next Acs began to spew hot air. Both were turned off. He came once again and turned them on and they worked. They worked all night, The next day was my birthday, and I had appointments all day until 6:30 PM. I left the house at 9:30 am leaving the 2 cats inside in the air conditioning, which I had not touched since the worker had left. When I returned at 6:30Pm the house was sweltering with blasts of hot air hitting me in the face. The thermostat read 93. The cats had drunk a whole fountain full of water and were stretched out on the floor looking semi-comatose, I quickly turned off the air conditioners, opened the doors, and turned on the fans. The cats rolled over and glared at me, then made a beeline to get outdoors. I called for help.. this guy said to take a picture of the thermostat and send it to him. Now you readers all know how bad I am at technology. It took me ages to finally accomplish the task but I did. He then said he needed a picture of the whole controller. I struggled but complied. He then said you can fix it yourself. I asked how. He wrote MODE COOL SETTINGS, nothing else. I could not find a cool setting just cool. By then the handyman arrived and was trying to put a bed together for me in the heat. I told him about the air conditioner and showed him the repairman’s message. He thought maybe the man meant just COOL since there was no cool settings. The thermostat now read 81. He tried and the ac started but blew hot air. He turned it off and I sent the repairman a text telling him what happened. He did not respond. The cats were still very mad at me. They would not eat their supper and refused to come in the house. I slept on the couch without my usual feline companions, and they slept on the porch. At 3:30 I heard the ac turn on and got up and checked the thermostat. It was on off. I figured maybe it is just the fan turning on since the thermostat was off. The cats came in to see what I was doing. Was it working? . The handler ran for 5 minutes and turned off and continued this repeatedly all night. I was afraid to turn it on. The cats keep going in the utility room to see why this machine keeps humming every now and then, but nothing gets cooler. I texted all this material to the repairman so he would see it first thing when he got up. Then I discovered he had texted his boss and said he thought there was something wrong with this lady because my ACs were working perfectly. The cats peered at this message and went hiding. Not only were they destined to roast to death, but they were also living with a crazy woman . I try to explain to the cats that I know from experience that after the ac is off for a while it will work when turned back on but will later start blowing hot air again. If I am not here to turn it off, the house will turn into a furnace as it did yesterday. They don’t care. They want it on. They want air.. Momau has climbed onto the file cabinet and is tapping the thermostat, but she is not able to do anything with it. Thank goodness for that .Otherwise, she may have to undergo a cognitive test also and I’m not sure she could pass it. Beebe is too hot and too fat to try and fix the problem. I am hoping it will get repaired properly next week and we will have 2 cool cats, and I won’t be in the loony bin. It has been an interesting Memorial Day weekend to say the least.
