Mary Ellen Carver

Mary Ellen Carver, 83, of Havana, Florida, transitioned to her eternal home April 22, 2026. She was born in Blount County, Tennessee, to Clark and Mildred Davis, and raised by Bill and Leona Carver in Eustis, Florida. Mary was a graduate of Eustis High School and Tallahassee Community College. She is retired from the Florida Department of Revenue. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, adopted father, adopted mother, one infant brother, one half-brother, Terry Davis, and her longtime partner, Jake Cox. She is survived by her sons, Bill Strawn and wife Lori of Blountstown, Chris Strawn and wife Karen of Tallahassee, along with 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, half-sisters Judy Dixon and Vicky McMurray of Tennessee. Mary loved watching hummingbirds, cooking, feeding creatures big and small, and gardening. She was especially proud of her flowers.
“The flowers I planted still will grow,
their petals bright in morning’s glow,
though I must leave, my work remains,
in every bud that feels the rain”
She has requested no formal service and in lieu of flowers, asked that any donations be made to Salem Methodist Church. P.O. Box 646, Havana, FL. 32333 or by calling 850-539-6636
Any plans for a memorial will be made at a later date by her sons.
