Jeffrey Scott Stevens, 73, of Tallahassee, Florida, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, July 30,
2026.
The youngest son of Marion Earl and Lucill D. McGill Stevens, he was a native of Quincy, Florida, where he
attended Stevens Elementary School. There, he met classmates and friends with whom he formed lasting
friendships that continued throughout his life.
His family later moved to Tallahassee, Florida, and eventually to Pompano Beach, Florida, where he attended
Blanche Ely High School. During his high school years, he developed a deep love for basketball and proudly
played on the Blanche Ely basketball team.
While living in Pompano Beach, Jeffrey met and married the love of his life, Joyce Jackson, and built a life and
family that remained a treasured part of his journey.
In August 1977, he answered the call to serve in the U.S. Army, where he served as an enlisted soldier for 2
1/2 years. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who took pride in providing for himself and those he
loved.
For more than 17 years, Jeffrey worked as a lead cook with Waffle House, where he was respected for his
commitment, skill and dedication.
Jeffrey will be remembered for his warm spirit, his love of family, his passion for basketball, the true friendships
he established and the many memories he created.
Jeffrey’s memory is cherished by his beloved daughter, Jolie Stevens of Pompano Beach, Florida, and his
granddaughter, Nyla Staple. He is also remembered by his loving brothers, Donald Stevens (Mike) of
Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Joseph Stevens (Jacquelyn) of Tallahassee, Florida; his sister, Anna Stevens
Norris (Dr. Samuel) of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of loving family members and friends.
Though Jeffrey’s earthly journey has ended, his life, laughter, love and memories will continue to live on in the
hearts of those who knew him.
Rest peacefully, Jeffrey. Your journey is complete, but your memories will live on forever.
Services and military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at Tallahassee National
Cemetery. Visitation and viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, 110 S.
Ninth St., Quincy, Florida.
