New Year celebrated with Brunch in the Park

In celebration of the New year, Commissioner Alonzetta Simpkins and Radiant Life Changers invited the community out for the Third Annual New Year’s Day Brunch in the Park.

Simpkins welcomed attendees to an afternoon filled with food, fun and fellowship in celebration of the New Year.

Guests were treated to a spread of mouthwatering options, including choices between savory sausage, freshly fried fish, or crispy fried chicken. The culinary experience extended further with an array of tempting sides – from classic Southern grits to waffles, potatoes, dirty rice, and coleslaw.

The event not only served as a platform for neighbors to come together but also highlighted the importance of communal celebrations in fostering unity.

As the aroma of the delectable dishes wafted through the air, laughter and cheerful conversations filled St. Hebron Park, creating an atmosphere of warmth and connection. The brunch not only satisfied taste buds but also provided an opportunity for residents to reflect on the past year and anticipate the possibilities of the year ahead.

“We started this three years ago and the vision was unity…unity and love,” Simpkins said to the crowd. “If we could move better with that, the world would be a better place; our community would be a better place; our county would be a better place.

Many sat around chatting, as music was played by DJ Woadie. There were also live performances and a workout for entertainment.

Simpkins said Brunch in the Park is a way to kick off the new year with fellowship, fitness, food, and local entertainment.

“I believe that there is strength in unity,” said Simpkins. “The partnerships of local businesses, non-profits, and individuals for the Brunch displays our growing unity and collaboration. Radiant Life Changers Inc. seeks to empower the community by building bonds and restoring the village mentality where each one helps one. The motto of “One Gadsden” coined by the Gadsden Board of County Commissioners exemplifies our goal to bring everyone together to make Gadsden County the best!”

As attendees departed with full stomachs and happy hearts, the event left an indelible mark on the community, setting a positive tone for the year to come.

Simpkins said partnerships Mother Care Network, Dr. Anthony Viegbesie, St. Hebron Guys, Harvey’s Supermarket, Grocery Outlet, Gadsden Men of Action, Inc., Bantam Bay & Company, Starhouse Remodeling RDL LLC, Noochie’s Lemonade, DJ Woadie, and Greenfire Farms made the event possible.
