Havana residents open mobile flower-truck with a mission

Sometimes certain events in life send good people on a path towards a fated destiny.

Alisha’s Flower CINsations is not just a flower truck...it is a flower market business on wheels with a story and a mission for a good cause.

Alisha and Tracy Smith have a story to share - a story of a tragic loss that began a journey of new beginnings, healing, dreams, and happiness.

During an interview with the Smiths, Alisha was asked what the flower business meant to her.

“Everything,” she said, touching her hand to her heart in an emotional moment as her gaze lingered upon the flowers on her truck. “It’s just super special and makes me feel like I am doing something special in Cindy’s honor.”

Alisha was talking about her best friend and sister-in-law, Cindy Robinson.

Last year, Cindy lost her battle to cancer, leaving a heart full of sadness for the Smith family.

Alisha reminisced about what a fun-loving person Cindy was, “she was the glue of our family.”

The letters CIN in CINsations is a form of symbolism to include Cindy as part of the flower business.

Alisha’s new flower business venture stemmed from the many adventures and moments shared with her best friend.

Alisha and Cindy started a tradition by purchasing flowers everywhere they went.

The flowers were beautiful just like their friendship.

The support of Alisha’s husband, Tracy, helped bring reality to what she envisioned.

“It gives me the opportunity to help Alisha fulfill her dreams and honor my sister,” Tracy Smith said.

The Smiths are already known throughout the community - Alisha recently retired from her position as a commercial insurance agent at Pat Thomas Insurance, and Tracy is Havana’s interim town manager, although he is better known for being Havana’s Chief of Police.

Alisha says that now that she has retired, she can focus 100% of her attention on the flowers full-time.

The Smiths have been married for 35 years, have one son, and are trying to live life to its fullest.

Together, the two are a power couple and even though Tracy is still working in public service and government, he is often spotted, working hard by his wife’s side at events to help celebrate and keep his sister’s memory alive by selling beautiful assortments of flowers.

Alisha says the flower truck and its wares have made a hit amongst crowds - in particular, she says the sunflowers are the current top sellers.

This spring, Alisha plans to plant delphinium, zinnia, lilies, sunflowers, daisies, liatris, baby’s breath, and peony to add to her flower truck’s wares.

Last year was doubly difficult for the Smith family, as Tracy’s mother lost her battle against Lymphoma and Cindy lost hers soon after against Carcinoma.

The tragic death of both set the Smith’s mission into motion when they decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the flower business to St. Jude’s Hospital.
