Chattahoochee students get dressed up for “Drugs Are Scary” Day

The students and staff at Chattahoochee Elementary School went all-out for Red Ribbon Week (October 25-28) as they carried forth the message that it's cooler to stay safe and stay off drugs.

On Monday, October 25, students and staff dressed in red as they kicked off Red Ribbon Week - a national education-focused campaign that seeks to inspire youth to live drug-free lives.

Students in Mrs. Green’s kindergarten class at Chattahoochee Elementary School show off their powerful poses during Red Ribbon Week at the school. Students were encouraged to come in-costume during the final day of the week.

Since 1980, schools around the country have hosted their own Red Ribbon Week functions that mingle fun activities, costumes, and presentations with awareness on the harmful effects that drugs can have on communities and youth.

Red Ribbon Week continued at Chattahoochee Elementary with “Stars Are Too Bright For Drugs” Day (students encouraged to wear bright, neon colors), “TEAM UP Against Drugs” Day (students encouraged to wear a team shirt or jersey), and concluded with “Drugs Are Scary” Day.

On the final day of the week (October 28, as students were out of school on October 29), students were encouraged to come dressed in their most-magnificent costumes.

Ms. Lee’s first graders came fully-costumed as part of Chattahoochee Elementary School’s “Drugs Are Scary” costumed day of Red Ribbon Week.

Superheroes, fairies, witches, ninja, princesses, police officers, firefighters, and pirates filled the classrooms at Chattahoochee Elementary School.

In addition to the at-school programs, educators at the school encouraged parents to take the week to talk to their child about the harm of drugs.
