Death in hospital parking lot results in arrest

An event in the parking lot of the Gadsden County Capital Regional Medical Center resulted in the death of one individual, and the arrest of another.

Shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 22, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office released an alert on the agency’s email list and social media that stated deputies were searching for a person of interest.

Tyshebia Woods was named as the person of interest.

A later alert, arriving on the same day shortly after 2 p.m., offered more details from the sheriff’s office.

According to this second alert, the sheriff’s office was naming Woods as a suspect in a reported homicide that had taken place in the parking lot of the medical center.

The homicide, the agency reported, had taken place on Saturday, August 21.

The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information on Woods’ whereabouts to make a report to either the sheriff’s office or Big Bend Crime-Stoppers.

At the time of this report, sheriff’s office investigators announced that Woods was last seen headed towards Tallahassee.

On Monday, August 23, shortly after midnight, the sheriff’s office released a third and final report - stating that Woods had been taken into custody and arrested.

According to the sheriff’s office, Woods was being charged in association to the homicide investigation from the medical center, and she was booked into the Gadsden County Jail with one count of first-degree homicide.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released any further information on what led to the homicide.
