Senior Day Breast Cancer Awareness Celebration held in Midway

Saint Luke Primitive Baptist Church in Midway hosted a Senior Day Lunch and Breast Cancer Awareness Celebration on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.
|Themed “Wisdom, Wellness & Strength,” the event was emceed by Gadsden County Commissioner Rontreius Green of District 5.
The program began with a processional featuring a parade of breast cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. Presenters included Mother Agatha Salters Lamb, Elder Torail Jackson, and Mary Washington.
Commissioner Ronterious Green led the opening prayer, followed by a musical tribute from Stanley Dupoint. Allene J. Milton presented the scripture, and Freddie Ash delivered the welcome and occasion.
The celebration recognized honorable guests, city and county officials, pastors and ministers.
Breast cancer awareness highlights were shared, including remarks by Terry Stepple, a prostate cancer survivor, who emphasized that “men get cancer too.”
Elder Torail Jackson, the church’s pastor, presented “The Pastor’s Vision.” Marrisa Henderson, representing Advantage Aging Solutions of Tallahassee, spoke during the senior aging segment. Dominique Jackson, CEO and behavioral mental health professional at Advantage Aging Solutions, provided insights on mental health.
The event also included an October birthday celebration with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” in the style of Stevie Wonder.
Organizer Shirley Bryant delivered words of thanks, and Elder Torail Jackson gave the final remarks, blessing of the food, and benediction.
A complimentary lunch was served in the fellowship hall. Donations were accepted to support future programs.
The next Senior Day program is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
