Retired teacher finds her voice in children’s books

Betty James holds a copy of her latest children’s book, I am Grateful.

Bwembya’s Market is hosting a book reading and signing featuring author and artist Betty R. James, a native of Quincy, Florida on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:30 a.m.
James is the author of the children’s book I am Grateful, as well as two other works.
She will be reading I am Grateful and will be available to sign books following the reading.
The event is open to the public at no cost.
Inspired by the story of artist Dean Mitchell, James has ventured into the art world as a novice, utilizing various materials and mediums to reimagine pieces in a fun way.
She is finding her voice and confidence in the space by embracing colorful themes and thinking outside of the box.
James is a retired Gadsden County educator and married to former Superintendent of Schools Reginald James.
