Gadsden County Senior Services is partnering with The Salvation Army of Tallahassee to distribute food to senior citizens.
More than 40 seniors were served during their first distribution held on Tuesday, July 2.
The Salvation Army of Tallahassee’s Lt. Omar Lugo said the initiative was started to fill the gap and address food insecurity among seniors in our community, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals and support.
“It came about through a collaboration between The Salvation Army of Tallahassee and the Gadsden County Senior Center, recognizing the growing need to support our senior citizens, especially those facing food insecurity,” Lugo said.
He said the initiative will provide much-needed relief to seniors, helping to improve their quality of life, reduce hunger, and foster a sense of community support and care.
