Cooperative Extension: The Value of Soil Testing

Gadsden County Times by Gadsden County Times

Like everyone else, every year when my annual wellness check rolls around my doctor insists on me getting blood work done before my exam. Why? Because we know that bloodwork gives the doctor a look into your health to know how they can help you maintain a strong and healthy life. Well, soil sampling does just that for the plant world. As we enter the summer months people start to see conditions in lawns, gardens, and farms that are not ideal. These conditions in the plants can decrease aesthetic and economic value. So quickly anyone would want to ask, “how can I fix this”, but just like your doctor, we cannot get to the solution until we understand the problem. Where do we start, you got it. With soil sampling, like bloodwork, it gives us the foundational knowledge we need to start working on solutions to keep your plants healthy and strong.
