Salvation Army welcomes Frazier family as new local officers

The Salvation Army of Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla Counties recently welcomed two new leaders to its rank, Captains Herb and JoAnn Frazier and their family.

Captains Frazier assumed their positions on June 20.

According to the Salvation Army, Captain Herb and JoAnn Fraizer are “looking forward to getting to know the community and continuing the ministry of The Salvation Army in Tallahassee, Quincy, and Crawfordville.”

Captains Herb and JoAnn Frazier are in their 14th year as Salvation Army officers.

Throughout their 20 year marriage (the couple celebrated their anniversary in June), they have raised three children, their daughters who are aged 16, 8, and 5; by August, the couple will also welcome their son as the newest addition to their family.

The Tallahassee Salvation Army has two new captains leading its ranks. Captains Herb and JoAnn Frazier recently moved to Tallahassee with their three daughters and their soon-to-be-born son. The Fraziers will lead the local Salvation Army in its mission across Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla Counties.

The Frazier’s officially took command of The Tallahassee Salvation Army Corps on June 20 and have hit the ground running ever since.

Before serving in Tallahassee, the couple served in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Kissimmee, Florida, Hernando County, Florida, and Pensacola, Florida.

Captain JoAnn is a native Texan who was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.

Captain Herb was born in Texas, but being the son of a Marine, has lived all over the United States, including Hawaii.

However, most of his adolescent years were spent in nearby Albany, Georgia which he considers his hometown.

When Captain Herb was 19, he ventured out to Texas to become more involved with the Salvation Army’s mission; there he met his wife, JoAnn who was already attending The Salvation Army church and had a mutual calling on her life for full time ministry.

The two say that they are ‘a match made in heaven’.

In 2007, they were accepted into The Salvation Army School for Officers Training and were both commissioned and ordained in 2009.

The Frazier’s share a deep love for God and have an amazing passion for people.

The Frazier family are in love with Tallahassee and feel like they are at home.

“I am really excited about working with our volunteers and reaching out to the community as we prepare for Hurricane Season and our Christmas Programs funded by the Red Kettle fund raising,” said Captain Herb.

“I am amazed how dynamic our Social Services Program is and how many people we help every week with utilities, rent and food,” added Captain JoAnn. “We are truly blessed by the financial support we receive from the community.”

It is in this new position that the Fraziers intend to continue living by the motto “Heart to God, hand to man”.

Their goal is to continue the legacy of The Salvation Army of “Doing The Most Good” in the Leon, Wakulla and Gadsden Counties with the contributions of money, time and resources that the community provides.
