The Havana Garden Club held its annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, April 13.
The event took place outside of the Hazel Baker Community Center, starting at 8:30 a.m. and lasting until 12:30 p.m.
The sale is a way to fund the various activities of the garden club throughout the year, and the plants come from a variety of local sources, including club members, their friends and business partners, and this year, the Sprouts Academy.
The event is a popular tradition in Havana, and even before the start time, a large crowd gathered in anticipation for the sale, and the site remained crowded throughout the morning with eager browsers.
A wide variety of plants and gardening accessories were offered, and the sale featured a large number of plants and arrangements grown by the Sprouts Academy, a gardening program for middle schoolers at Havana Magnet School, which is sponsored and operated by the Havana Garden Club.
For the Sprouts, this plant sale represents a graduation of sorts, where they can see the rewards for their efforts over the past year by receiving the profits for the plants they’ve grown and sold on gift cards.
The Havana Garden Club has posted that the event sold out their stock, making the 2024 Spring Plant Sale an undeniable success.
