CAT TALES: Catzinjammies Kids

If you watched my two cat-children, you’d think I was too stingy to buy them toys.

If you looked around the house and screened-in porch, you’d know that wasn’t true; they have an empty box that says ‘CAT TOYS’ on the side and then you would notice an array of catnip mice, flopping fish, fishpoles, catnip filled creatures, balls with bells inside, balls without bells inside, scratchers, and they frequently chase toys strewn everywhere inside and out.

The reason you’d think they had nothing to play with is because you seldom see them play with all these cat entertainment products.

I pick them all up each day and put them back in their toy box.

The two cats then get busy and drag them all out and strew them around.

Once that’s done they lose interest in them and start looking around to find their own things to play with.

They’ll play with a dust ball they found under the couch for a half hour-much longer than they will play with a toy ball with feathers on it that cost $5.99 plus tax.

The curtains are much more fun to swing on than running through that plastic tube I had to push them through to show them how it worked - they haven’t gone near it since.

Sitting on the mantel and pushing small objects off is much more fun than watching a battery-operated fish flop on the floor.

Hearing their human scream and jump up and down only adds to the fun.

They love empty paper bags, boxes, and baskets…they’re great for hiding in and then pouncing out of any unsuspecting feline or human who happens to pass by.

That brings me to their latest plaything.

Earlier this year, I decided to start spring cleaning early and emptied my entire lingerie drawer into the washer and then dryer.

Before deciding what to keep and what to get rid of, I needed them all to be clean and fresh from my nylon jammies to my old worn-out undies.

Once they were dry, I lost my ambition and didn’t feel like dealing with cleaning that day.

I piled the clothes into a laundry basket and ignored them for several days.

When I finally got back to the task at hand, I reached for the top item, some baby blue pajama bottoms, and tugged on them.

Only one side budged.

I noticed the other leg was wriggling on its own.

There was fat Beebe stuck in the leg.

I pried him out, setting him free and having a good laugh in the process.

Returning to the laundry room to resume my work, the entire basket was rocking.

Up popped Momau, a bra strap around her neck.

She flew out and went racing through the house until she lost her bra passenger.

That race got Beebe’s attention, and he joined in the fun.

Before my astonished eyes they both returned to the laundry room and jumped back in the basket.

They began pulling items out and rolling around in them.

I was appalled.

I was going to have to wash everything all over again.

As I tried to gather things up and replace them in the basket, the doorbell rang.

I tried to close the door to the laundry room, but it was blocked by a pile of my unmentionables, so I left it as closed as I could and went to answer the door.

There stood the UPS man to pick up a package.

As I went to get it, I could hear the melee going on in the laundry room.

I hoped the delivery man couldn’t hear it or he might report some domestic problem going on in my home.

It was a domestic problem, but not the kind that needed the police.

I dragged the package out to where the UPS man was standing on the porch.

We exchanged a few pleasantries, with him commenting on how many packages he was always bringing here.

I explained it was much easier to get things through him than having to drive everywhere.

He was just about to leave when Momau came bursting to the door, carrying a pair of my stretched-out lace panties in her mouth.

The startled driver looked up just as Momau casually dropped them at his feet.

I snatched them up as fast as I could, hoping he couldn’t see the gaping spaces between the lace where someone’s buttocks didn’t quite fit in them as intended.

I looked up as I held them behind my back, but it was too late.

There he stood, mouth agape before making a hasty exit.

I knew for sure that he knew for sure just whose big butt had done the damage.

Thanks to those cats of mine, I will not be ordering online again for quite a long time.
