With the start of the school year approaching in Gadsden County, Bear Creek Bethel Cultural Center for Change is making sure local students have the backpacks and school supplies they need to succeed. The nonprofit organization, established by Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, hosted a free back-to-school supply distribution for youth in need. The event provided essential items to help students begin the academic year prepared and confident.
Founded to serve Gadsden County and surrounding communities, Bear Creek Bethel Cultural Center for Change supports underserved populations through youth enrichment, STEM education, literacy programs, and aging support. The center’s mission is rooted in empowerment, education, and cultural preservation, with seasonal programs designed to combat youth violence, promote patriotism, and encourage personal growth.
“As we continue to grow, we’re excited to expand our programming to meet the evolving needs of the community,” said Dr. Deborah Thigpen, a leader in the organization’s outreach efforts. “Our goal is to ensure that every child has the tools and support they need to thrive, both in school and in life.”  The center plans to introduce additional initiatives in the coming months, furthering its mission to provide educational and cultural resources to Gadsden County residents.
