Gadsden County families are invited to attend the 14th Annual Back-to-School Drive and Community Resource Fair on Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Eugene Lamb Recreation Center in Midway. The event, hosted by Commissioner Eric Hinson, the City of Midway, and One Gadsden Foundation, Inc., will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The free community event aims to support local students and families by providing essential back-to-school resources and access to local services. Attendees can receive school supplies, toiletries, health screenings, haircuts, and hairstyles for children and teens. Technology giveaways, games, food, drinks, and live entertainment are also scheduled.
“This event is about more than just backpacks,” Commissioner Hinson said. “It’s about lifting up our students and their families, showing our support, and making sure every family is prepared for the school year by having the resources they need for success.”
Midway City Manager Dr. Henry Grant added, “We are excited to partner with One Gadsden Foundation this year as this fair reminds us that collaboration builds stronger communities. When our local government, schools, and organizations come together, we create real momentum for positive change, especially for our youth.”
Organizers anticipate hundreds of attendees. Local vendors and community partners will be present to connect families with services related to education, wellness, and workforce support.
The event will be held at the Eugene Lamb Recreation Center, 420 Palmer Road in Midway. All activities are free and open to the public. For more information or to get involved, contact One Gadsden Foundation, Inc. at 850-320-8604. Updates are also available at facebook.com/1Gadsden.
