Salvation Army opens officein Quincy

The Salvation Army is partnering with the City of Quincy to open satellite office hours in Quincy City Hall to expand service and accessibility.

The Salvation Army of Tallahassee provides services to those in surrounding counties. According to a news release from the City of Quincy, The move will allow residents seeking assistance to meet with a representative on-site for appointments and to process applications for assistance, expanding The Salvation Army’s services and programs to make it even more convenient to receive support.

“We have observed that the genuine need in our area is not exclusive to Leon County,” Captain Herb Frazier, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army of Tallahassee, said. “With all the economic changes and challenges that we have faced and endured in these past few years, the need for social service relief is even greater in our Tri-county areas.”

“We are forever grateful for the partnership we share with the Salvation Army and the assistance it continues to provide our residents,” City ManagerRobert Nixon said. “A part of accessibility is ensuring that resources offered by outside organizations are available, and I cannot see a better way to provide this accessibility than to open City Hall to the Salvation Army,”

Mayor Keith Dowdell said while the city is doing what it can to lower and ease the utility burden of the citizens, there are times when outside help is needed to support those that have come up on hard times.

“With the partnership we see today, many families unable to make the journey to Tallahassee will be able to receive aid right in City Hall,” Dowdell added.

Hours of operation will be Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information on eligibility, and to schedule an appointment call (850) 222-0304.
