Free Narcan distribution to take place this Sunday in the fight against Fentanyl overdoses

A retired firefighter will be coming through Gadsden County this weekend with the goal of saving lives.

Luis Garcia, a retired firefighter and paramedic from South Florida, has tasked himself with the mission of helping other first responders - as well as citizens of Gadsden County - in the local fight against Fentanyl.

Garcia will be taking a tour of the county, stopping at each of Gadsden County’s municipalities to distribute free Narcan and train people on how to use the life-saving nasal spray.

Garcia will be in town on Sunday, July 17.

His first stop will be at Quincy City Hall at 9 a.m. , followed by Chattahoochee Town Hall at 10 a.m. , Gretna Town Hall at 11 a.m. , Havana Town Hall at noon , Midway City Hall at 1 p.m. , and Greensboro Town Hall at 2 p.m.

If there is enough time left in Garcia’s schedule, he says he may make a return visit after Greensboro to Quincy.

While Garcia will be training people and first responders on how to use Narcan, he will also be distributing Narcan to those who need it in their supply.

This no-cost distribution is only made possible thanks to the ongoing GoFundMe fundraiser that Garcia set up; so far, the fundraiser has raised just under $66,000 with an ultimate goal of raising $100,000.
