Little Free Art Studio provides Chattahoochee with at-home arts and craft opportunities

Looking for an avenue to explore your creative side? Chattahoochee Main Street’s Little Free Art Studio is providing Gadsden County with a free opportunity to get creative and engage with the community.

Located in Chattahoochee’s Heritage Park, the Little Free Art Studio is a “free arts education service to the community.”

Each month, it is restocked with different, newly-themed art kits with each kit containing all necessary supplies, instructions, and a brief history of the highlighted artist.

Chattahoochee Main Street encourages community members to take the kits home, create, and showcase their art online by sharing photos on Facebook or Instagram utilizing the hashtag, #TCCLFAS

Although children under 6 may need adult assistance, the Little Free Art Studio is accessible to community members of all ages.

The Little Free Art Studio was created and established through a collaboration with Tallahassee Community College, the TCC Foundation, and the City of Chattahoochee.

The TCC Foundation, which serves as the “official fundraising arm of Tallahassee Community College” and “raises funds to support scholarships, programs and facilities for the College,” was a prominent financial contributor to the project.

By partnering with the City of Chattahoochee, the TCC Foundation’s fundraising efforts allowed for the establishment of the Little Free Art Studio in Heritage Park.

In addition, Tallahassee Community College’s honors students enrolled in Humanities courses designed the studio.

“Collaborations like these improve the quality of life for our community,” Chattahoochee Main Street shares. “Thank you Professor Lindsey Smitherman-Brown and your Humanities students, Tallahassee Community College, Nick Brown and the City of Chattahoochee for your partnership.”

Following the establishment of the Little Free Art Studio, the community college’s students will continue their contributions to the project by designing the studio’s projects.

Honors students have determined the themes of several months worth of art kits.

In May, the Little Free Art Studio contained O’Keefe’s Watercolor Flowers kits, whereas June’s kits will offer an exploration of abstract tape art.

In addition, July’s celebratory kits will be dedicated to patriotic pointillism.

When individuals visit the Little Free Art Studio, they may find themselves coming home with more than just art kits.

Conveniently located beside the Little Free Art Studio, the Little Free Library is another resource that provides community enrichment to Gadsden County.

The little library box provides free books to the members of the Gadsden County community, and residents can actively engage with the Little Free Library through taking or donating books.

Although partnerships and collaborations have propelled the Little Free Art Studio towards a successful

establishment, investment by community members will allow the Little Free Art Studio to thrive and enrich the community for years to come.
