Gadsden Jaguars dubbed Big Bend’s #1 football team

Under Head Football Coach Russell Ellington’s leadership, the Gadsden County High School football team is one game away from reaching the Florida High School Athletic Association state championship game.
The Jags started out this 2024 football season in August with a determination like no other team in the region and seized claim as the Florida High School Athletic Association Regional champions with a 21-9 win over the Bolles Bulldogs of Jacksonville.
With a 12-1 record, the Jags will host the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes out of Miami on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The Tornadoes have a 10-2 overall standing and have covered the season with large margin wins including last Friday’s 41-6 victory over the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions (Miami, FL) who had a 11-2 overall standing before being dethroned. The Tornadoes lost two games this season, one to the Lakeland Dreadnaughts and the other to Vero Beach Indians.

More than twenty Black men and women pose together, with most wearing matching black t-shirts featuring a gold tiger emblem and '50th Class Reunion' text. Some attendees are standing along the front edge, while others sit on the stage lip or chairs behind them under an American flag.
