Lieutenant Anglie Holmes works on building a better Gadsden County

She is a well-known name to many around the county, and has been a facet in her community for the past 33 years - Lieutenant Anglie Holmes has been a staple in her community for more than three decades.

Throughout her time as both a resident and public servant of Gadsden County, Holmes has worn many different hats throughout her community, which keeps her on her feet.

Holmes started working in the law enforcement industry in 1989 - and started her career by making history through becoming the first black female officer for the City of Quincy’s police department.

While working for the Quincy Police Department, Holmes also took on a role with the Gadsden County School Board as a school resource office - a role which she filled for nine years.

While seen publicly by the Gadsden community as a public information office for the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Anglie Holmes is also the Chief Investigator of the sheriff’s office’s criminal investigation team, where she specially oversees the Special Sexual Victim Crime Unit.

Throughout this time, Holmes says she developed a love for helping other young women grow.

Her love for mentorship led her to start an organization titled: Young Sisters Community Organization.

According to Holmes, her goal was, and still is, to help young girls remain beautiful and confident in themselves; through this organization, Holmes serves as both a godmother and mentor to many young girls in the community.

“We are just connected, and make sure we stay connected,” Holmes said.

When she was a young woman herself, Holmes said she also found a female life coach and role model in Pastor Nicky Collins, a master life coach from Higher Dimension Church, in Tallahassee.

Faith, Holmes said, is important to her.

Holmes grew up in a Christian household and she says her faith has helped her fulfill the work she has done in Gadsden County.

She became a licensed evangelist in 2004 and she is currently appointed by Apostle Heather Armstrong of Quincy Apostolic Church.

Holmes has her own ministry, Impact Ministries, where she learns the needs of the people and strives to fulfill those needs.

Holmes currently works for the Gadsden County Sheriff's Department.

She started her career with the department as the Chief Investigator of Criminal Investigation.

Holmes currently oversees the Special Sexual Victim Crime Unit, while also being the Public Information Officer for the sheriff’s office.

Being able to serve in those two roles, Holmes said, gives her excitement, as it allows her to build a relationship with her community, help them understand the goal of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Department, while also protecting Gadsden County’s vulnerable victims.

For Holmes, she says it is easy for her to apply herself to her career and ministry, because that is simply who she is.

As if her plate was not full enough, Holmes has also been working on a new book that she started after she had a breakthrough with her ministry.

“I broke emotionally, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon me and said GO,” Holmes said.

That’s when Holmes said she knew she had to start writing her book.

According to Holmes the book can be expected to be released next year.

She now has plans of continuing to grow with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Department.

“I feel like my steps are ordained, and I’m ready to take the baton to help make Gadsden County better,” Holmes said.
